One of the programs of the TECHTATVA'07 for today is the Yunkyard wars, scheduled at 11:00 am but finally started at 12:30 pm...TII ;-)
More than one hundred teams were participating...our team was formed by 4 members:
one indian: Yajur
one north-american : Nick ( one of the three)
one nepali:
one spanish : me
The challenge is constructing a BRIDGE only with the materials they provide to us ... in ...hours
This is our creation
We were so many teams that had to split in 2 classrooms...in our, there were really nice designs, most of them with a similar conception, based in pilars... our bridge was looking very different from the rest...maybe because of our multinacional mixture of ideas...when the time was over all the participants were required to leave the classroom and only the judges and the team involved were allowed to be inside loading the bridge and measuring the weights and elongation.
It was taking such a long time and as our bridge was so different from the rest...the nepali girl left and the 3 of us went for a snack to 7 Bees; when we came back they were still measuring and it was the time for the salsa class, so we just asked someone to be there when was our turn, we were gonna trust on the results anyway but...suddenly they decided to test 2 bridges at the same time so they called our team...we started to put weight, and more weights and the bridge was very flexible...it had a big deformation but still was not colapsed...so we continued loading more and more until there were no more weigts left...so we had to wait until the other team that was testing its bridge colapses and can use their weights...

Finals r at 11:15 in quadrangle tomorrow. Only 5 teams got selected for finals and we are one of them..Yeah all the best for tomorrow!
